The ability to accelerate quickly, despite limited run-up and/or odd angles, is key in speed parkour, world chase tag, & many jumping/landing/sprinting type parkour skill challenges. Unfortunately, many parkour athletes are overdeveloped in bilateral leg movements and underdeveloped in single-leg strides, bounds, & sprints. By working on accelerations, sprints, & decelerations, you build leg strength, power, & speed to apply to all aspects of your sport or training style.
