The 2028 U.S. Gymnastics Olympic Trials are reportedly heading to Louisville, Kentucky.

The KFC Yum! Center will play host to the official Olympic selection competition for the U.S. men’s and women’s artistic teams – consisting of five athletes each – according to the Louisville Courier Journal. The meet will take place June 15-18, 2028.

A formal announcement is expected tomorrow – Wednesday, April 15 – at Churchill Downs Racetrack, the home of the Kentucky Derby. The Louisville Sports Commission will host the press conference, and Kentucky Gov. Andy Beshear and Louisville Mayor Craig Greenberg are expected to be in attendance.

The “Gymnastics City USA” moniker that was used for the 2024 Olympic Trials in Minneapolis is expected to return, emphasizing Louisville becoming the capital of U.S. gymnastics for the week.

In 2024, Minneapolis played host to not only the artistic gymnastics Olympic Trials, but also the selection of the trampoline Olympic team during the USA Gymnastics Championships and USA Gymnastics’ national congress.

In recent years, Louisville has become an annual host for USA Gymnastics’ first elite meet of the season, Winter Cup. First held at Freedom Hall in 2023, the meet moved to the Kentucky International Convention Center in 2024 and has been there the past three years.

This will be Louisville’s first time hosting Olympic Trials.

The 2028 Los Angeles Olympics will follow the month after the event – July 14-30, 2028. See the full Olympic gymnastics schedule here.
