Jordan Chiles is back – back in elite gymnastics and back at UCLA.

In less than 24 hours, the Bruins announced that Chiles would be returning to the team as a student coach for the 2027 season and Chiles announced that she is eyeing the 2028 LA Olympic Games.

While Chiles enters her Coach Jo era, she’ll be able to utilize UCLA’s training facilities as she returns to elite gymnastics, making this a logical choice all around. It also keeps her in the LA area versus going back to her club gym at World Champions Centre in Spring, Texas or following her old club coaches, Cecile and Laurent Landi, to the University of Georgia.

Chiles made her comeback announcement in a video narrated by Michael Jordan, whom she was named after. The video also featured Chiles friends, Winnie Harlow and Normani. Watch it below.

Chiles, 25, will be 27 when the LA Games come around. If she makes the team, it will be her third Olympic Games. She is already a two-time Olympic medalist with the team (one gold, one silver), plus the Olympic floor bronze medal that is still in limbo. She is also a three-time world medalist.

Of the five members of the U.S. women’s 2024 Olympic team that won gold, four are now pursuing a spot on the 2028 team. Along with Chiles, Hezly Rivera and Jade Carey are currently competing elite, and Suni Lee announced her comeback over the summer. The only member of the team who has not announced her plans is reigning Olympic all-around and vault champion Simone Biles.
