Team USA’s Hezly Rivera and Lila Richardson withdrew from the Pan American Artistic Gymnastics Championships on Wednesday.

USA Gymnastics announced at the start of Wednesday’s meet, which served as individual qualifying and the team final, that traveling alternate Alessia Rosa had replaced Richardson. Rivera withdrew after competing only a full-twisting Yurchenko, instead of a double, in rotation one.

USA Gymnastics provided an update on both athletes after the U.S. finished atop the standings following Subdivision 1.

“Lila hit her face on the bar while performing a release move during warm-ups. She was eager to compete in her first international meet but after evaluation by the medical team, she received sutures on-site and was withdrawn from the competition.

“Hezly has been managing a sore hamstring that was aggravated during vault. In consultation with the medical team, she was withdrawn from the remainder of the competition as she looks to be healthy for future competitions.”

The Pan American Championships serve as a qualifying meet for the 2026 World Artistic Gymnastics Championships, with the top five women’s teams and 13 all-arounders advancing to October’s meet in Rotterdam, Netherlands.
