ICE Gymsports is making a significant impact in Christchurch by partnering with local schools to deliver trampoline-based NCEA programmes, creating meaningful opportunities for young people to achieve both in the classroom and through sport.

To date this year, the club has supported more than 160 students through NCEA training and assessments. Students typically attend weekly one-hour sessions over six weeks, developing their skills and confidence before completing their assessments. Along the way, they build coordination, resilience, and an introduction to the exciting world of trampoline.
Trampoline has been recognised within NCEA since the 1990s, following the pioneering work of David Williams from Counties Manukau Gymnastics Club. Today, clubs like ICE continue to build on that legacy by demonstrating how gymnastics can support educational achievement while encouraging lifelong participation in physical activity.
The programme is a great example of the value strong partnerships between clubs and schools can create, benefiting students, schools, and the wider gymnastics community.
Congratulations to ICE Gymsports on the success of this initiative and for creating meaningful NCEA opportunities for students through trampoline.
