England’s Gabriel Langton, 19, has been discharged from the hospital following a scary fall off high bar at the 2026 Commonwealth Games.
The fall happened during the final rotation of the men’s qualifying and team final on Friday. Performing a common Tak skill, Langton slipped from the apparatus, falling directly on his head and neck. He laid motionless for an uncomfortable number of minutes before multiple reports said he began showing movement with his arms and legs. Langton was eventually stretchered off the field of play, and England went on to win silver.

On Saturday, British Gymnastics shared a promising update on Langton:
“Gabriel was transferred to the hospital as a precautionary measure overnight and underwent multiple scans today, with very positive results. Thankfully, he has been cleared of any serious injury complications and will be discharged to return to the team hotel this evening.
“He is in good spirits and hugely grateful for the many messages of support and the excellent care provided by the medical teams. He is looking forward to being reunited with the team to celebrate his silver medal.
“He will be discharged to the team hotel under the care of the Team England medical team this evening.
“Everyone at British Gymnastics and Team England are sending our love to Gabe.”
British Gymnastics Head Coach Barry Collie documented Langton’s return to the team hotel on Instagram, which featured a warm welcome from a large, applauding crowd. Langton also received his silver medal since he missed the team medal ceremony yesterday.
