Faith Torrez was named the winner of the 2026 Honda Sport Award for Gymnastics on Thursday.

The Collegiate Women Sports Awards (CWSA) announced Torrez as the winner over fellow finalists Jordan Chiles (UCLA), Anna Roberts (Stanford), and Kailin Chio (LSU).

“Winning the Honda Award for gymnastics in my final senior year is something I will hold close to my heart forever,” Torrez said in a press release from the school. “It is not just about routines or scores, it is about the quiet moments no one sees, the early mornings, the tears, the growth, and the faith it took to keep going. This award reflects my journey, but it also belongs to my team, my sisters who became my home and stood by me through every high and low. It belongs to my coaches, KJ, Lou, Tom, Ash and Jenn, who poured into me, believed in me, and helped shape me into the person I am today. It belongs to our support staff, whose constant care and encouragement carried me through more than they know.”

This is the second year in a row that an Oklahoma gymnast has won the award following Jordan Bowers last season.

For the past three years, the award has gone to that year’s NCAA all-around champion. Prior to Torrez (2026) and Bowers (2025), Haleigh Bryant (LSU) won in 2024.

Trinity Thomas (Florida) won twice in a row in 2022 and 2023. She won the NCAA all-around title in 2022 but finished her collegiate career in 2023 by tying the NCAA perfect 10 record with 28 flawless marks.

Torrez led Oklahoma to its eighth overall national title this season and second in a row. She also won the NCAA all-around title in her first all-around appearance this season after being limited due to injury. She bested favorites Chiles and Chio for the crown.

The Class of 2026 Honda Cup, for which Torrez is now a finalist, will be awarded on July 27. The award is presented to one of the 12 sport-specific winners, including basketball, cross country, field hockey, golf, gymnastics, lacrosse, soccer, softball, swimming & diving, tennis, track & field, and volleyball.

The last gymnast to win the Honda Cup was Alabama’s Kim Jacobs in 2014. The one and only Sooner to win the cup was softball player Keilani Ricketts in 2013.
