ROTTERDAM, Netherlands (October 21, 2026) – The U.S. women’s team claimed the team silver medal Wednesday evening in Rotterdam and secured a team spot to the 2028 Olympic Games at the 2026 Artistic World Championships.
The United States scored an overall 165.531 to claim their spot on the team podium in second position following a high-octane competition. The five-woman team of Skye Blakely (Frisco, Texas/University of Florida), Charleigh Bullock (Spotsylvania, Va./Capital Gymnastics National Training Center), Dulcy Caylor (Spring, Texas/World Champions Centre), Reese Esponda (Helena, Mont./World Champions Centre) and Claire Pease (Sunnyvale, Texas/WOGA Gymnastics) had the highest overall scores on three of the four apparatus out of all eight teams in the final, recording three 14+ scores on both vault and uneven bars.
Top performers for the U.S. were Blakely on vault (14.300) and bars (14.400) and Pease on balance beam (13.600) and floor exercise (13.933) – with the latter being the highest score on the apparatus thus far at the Championships.
The Americans finished just behind China, who used a dominant performance on beam to propel them to team gold with a 165.764, with Japan third with a 164.063. The top three teams each earned a quota spot to the Olympic Games in 2028, to be hosted at home in Los Angeles, California.
Competition in Rotterdam kicks back to the men on Thursday, when Frederick Richard (Stoughton, Mass./University of Michigan) and Danila Leykin (Sarasota, Fla./EVO Gymnastics) compete in the all-around final at 1:30 p.m. ET. All action will stream live for U.S. viewers on Peacock and live scores will be provided by World Gymnastics.
