We would like to share several new appointments within the Athletes’ Council.

Beth Strickland has stepped down as Chair following an opportunity to work overseas and will remain on the Council as one of two rhythmic advisors. Together with the Athletes’ Council, we thank Beth for her leadership, commitment, and contribution in the role.

MAG Athlete Advisor William Fu Allen has also stepped down to focus on training commitments. William brought valuable experience through his involvement as an athlete leader at Tri Star Gymnastics and within the MAG performance pathway.

The following appointments have now been confirmed:

  • Chair: Ryan Moffat
  • Vice Chair: Aimee Didierjean
  • MAG Councillor: Max Renaud

Ryan and Aimee are existing council members and athlete advisors on the MAG and WAG technical committees.

Max is a MAG performance squad member who has represented New Zealand at the World University Games and World Cup events in Egypt and Croatia. Alongside competing, he is also involved in the sport as a coach, judge, and choreographer, bringing broad experience and a strong passion for athlete voice within gymnastics.

Over the last 12 months, the Council has continued to strengthen athlete engagement through initiatives including the athlete feedback wall at the XP Gymnastics Nationals, the launch of the Athletes’ Council on Instagram, athlete forums at nationals, feedback on NZOC Olympic nomination criteria, and development of club athlete leader guidelines planned for 2026.
