ROTTERDAM, Netherlands (October 24, 2026) – Headlined by a gold-medal floor exercise by Frederick Richard, two more medals for Skye Blakely and a first career individual World medal for Claire Pease, the U.S. claimed four medals during Saturday’s apparatus finals at the 2026 Artistic World Championships in the Netherlands.
In the day’s first event, Richard (Stoughton, Mass./University of Michigan) started off strong. With the highest execution score of the competition (8.833) and an additional stick bonus of one-tenth, Richard earned a 14.633 to hold off 2025 World champion Jake Jarman of Great Britain in second (14.600) and Artem Dolgopyat of Israel in third (14.466). He is the first American man to win World gold on floor since Paul Hamm in 2003, and the first medal of any color on the apparatus since Yul Moldauer’s bronze in 2017.
Next up were reigning World all-around champion Blakely (Frisco, Texas/University of Florida) and her fellow team silver medal-winner Pease (Sunnyvale, Texas/WOGA Gymnastics), in the women’s vault final. Pease secured her first individual World medal in her debut with a silver (14.233; 14.366, 13.700), followed closely by Blakely in bronze-medal position (14.166; 14.100, 13.833). Rebeca Andrade of Brazil won her third career World vault title with a 14.466 (14.400, 14.133).
Blakely followed up with a spot on the uneven bars podium Saturday afternoon with an impressive 14.600 to win bronze. Her score was the highest she recorded on the apparatus throughout the entire competition and was an improvement of two-tenths over her team and all-around scores of 14.400. In the final, Kaylia Nemour of Algeria won gold (15.333) and Helen Kevric of Germany silver (14.833).
Two-time U.S. pommel horse champion Patrick Hoopes (Lehi, Utah/U.S. Air Force Academy) also was active in Day 1 of apparatus finals and finished fifth with a 14.933 after a tie break with Kazakhstan’s Nariman Kubanov.
