Junior Recap

Gymnasts from two powerhouse gyms topped the junior men’s standings on day one of competition Thursday.

Cypress’ Hunter Egan posted a 76.306 in the all-around to lead GymTek’s London Norris (76.261) by 0.045 in the junior 17 division. The next best athlete, EVO’s Jake Wazolek, was nearly 3 points back in third.

Defending junior 16 champion Jakson Kurecki, now competing in the junior 17 division, left the competition in rotation 2 after seemingly under-rotating his Kas 1.5 on vault. He gestured to his leg and eased himself down to the mat to be evaluated by medical. He was eventually helped off the podium and wheeled off the field of play in a wheelchair.

EVO’s Elijah Connor rocketed to the top of the junior 16 division with a massive 80.052. Lakeshore’s Bo McCrea was nearly 3 points back with a 77.220. Coach Patty’s gymnast William Rebar rounded out the top three with a 76.491.
