RIO DE JANEIRO, Brazil (June 5, 2026) – The U.S. lineup in Brazil powered through qualifying Friday to kick off senior rhythmic competition at the 2026 Pan American Championships.
Megan Chu (San Diego, Calif./Pacific Stars Rhythmic Academy) and Natalie de la Rosa (Woodland Hills, Calif./Burlo Gymnastics) were sitting in the top three in all-around qualifying on Friday, with Chu in second with a 54.150 and De la Rosa just behind in third with a 53.400. Both Americans advanced to final competition for hoop and ball, with Chu third on hoop (27.700) and fourth on ball (26.450), while De la Rosa advanced in third on ball (26.500) and fourth on hoop (26.900).
The Senior National Group of Goda Balsys (Northbrook, Ill.), Kristina Lee (Woodridge, Ill.), Alaini Spata (Glen Ellyn, Ill.), Aurora Sullivan (Los Angeles, Calif.), Kalina Trayanov (Deerfield, Ill.) and Natalia Ye-Granda (San Diego, Calif.) is currently fourth in all-around qualifying with their score of 23.950 on five balls, which advanced them to the apparatus final.
The U.S. is in good form heading into Day 2 of the Championships, where they will conclude all-around and apparatus qualifying. Chu and De la Rosa will take on clubs and ribbon qualifying starting at 10 a.m. ET, while the Senior National Group takes the mat at 5:30 p.m. ET for three hoops and two clubs.
