Let’s see what this has to say for itself.

The meet has already failed to meet expectations because they didn’t toss a bronze medal into a pool of Nickelodeon slime and force Chiles and Barbosu to dive for it to see who the true bronze medalist is. They didn’t even have to race through a gauntlet of giant foam Donatellas to grab pieces of the medal while being hit by glitter cannons. So many possibilities. But, you know, keeping it classy.

Live scores currently have Webster-Longin in the AA, though UCLA’s posted lineups have her on VT, BB, FX but no bars. No Rosen at all today. Stanford has Barbosu going everywhere but vault.

Casey on the call, summarizing BRONZE and performing in the role of Inernational World Peace Arbitrator. Casey is United Nations.

Rotation 1

Jung-Ruivivar – VT – Stanford – yfull, good leg position in the air, hip pike throughout, step back. 9.750

Meanwhile on bars we’re still doing warmups. Anyimi finishing her exhibition touch. Cool?

Alipio – UB – UCLA – good first hs – toe on to maloney, leg sep, into bail, looks strong but a bad camera angle – slightly crooked on full turn – toe tuck 1/2, pulls out the landing, chest down. 9.800

Dugan – VT – Stanford – ro full on back pike, hits it, pretty large leg separation, hop back, chest down. 9.775

Webster-Longin – UB – UCLA – so she’s in the lineup, not Sumanasekera – maloney, leg sep, into pak, pretty pak – good 1/2 turn finish position on low – smooth hs on high – clear hip to FTDT, a little close to the bar but a good stick, chest up, some feet. 9.900

Gronski – VT – Stanford – yfull, very clean, another excellent stick. A stick so good Casey turned into a middle-aged Southern woman for a second. 9.900

Matthews – UB – UCLA – new hair, 10.0 SV – good hs on high – pak to toe on to van leeuwen, smooth, leg sep on VL – DLO, holds onto the landing, chest a little down, good. 9.950. Feel like we’ve been a half tenth loose on bars so far.

Soma – VT – Stanford – yfull, can’t control the landing today, jarred into a somewhat awkward bounce back. 9.800

Barros – UB – UCLA – short first hs – smooth pak – toe on to van leeuwen, best release legs so far but tighter on her handstands – DLO, little bounce back. 9.825

Roberts – VT – Stanford – Y1.5 comes up short this week, under rotated with lunge back – pretty in the air as usual. Still gets away with 9.8.

Sullivan – UB – UCLA – toe on to tkatchev, good counter rotation, into pak, small leg sep at the end – vertical position 1/2 turn on low – snaps hs on high, holds for a year – DLO, some piking, holds onto landing. 9.900

Nguyen – VT – Stanford – Y1.5, she’s also short, lands under-roated, lunge back, very similar to Roberts, a little softer in position, maybe some direction. 9.750

Chiles – UB – UCLA – hits first hs – piked tkatchev to pak is excellent – a little piked in 1/2 turn on low but better than last week – good hs on high – DLO, flings it out a little but gets enough height, good stick. 10.000. 1/2 turn on low wasn’t quite pristine for me this week, but a strong one.

After 1
UCLA 49.575
Stanford 49.025

UCLA opens up big lead after a very good opening bars. Lots of sticks, felt like a real-life 49.400. Stanford not awesome on vault today, escaping with a 49, but Gronski was the only one who delivered the landing.

Rotation 2

Sumanasekera – VT – UCLA – yfull, good position in the air, bounce back. 9.825.

Jung-Ruivivar – UB – Stanford – good hs on low – toe on to maloney to pak, legs together throughout, lovely – 1/2 turn on low, good leg position, maybe a tad past but close – good hs on high – stalder to double tuck, holds the stick, deep compression, probably enough of a waver to be a small control deduction. 9.925

Anyimi – VT – UCLA – yfull, one of her best landings, holds onto the stick, leans forward at the hips to hold it, good amplitude. 9.800

Sorrento – UB – Stanford – good hs – toe on to maloney to pak, small leg sep at the end – rushes through 1/2 turn on low – hits hs on high – DLO, pretty in the air but ends up with a .1 step. 9.825

Webster-Longin – VT – UCLA – y1.5, everyone has a case of the shorts today on their 1.5s, under-rotated and lunge back. 9.775

Robinson – UB – Stanford – blind to jaeger, good height – pak, smooth – steps up to high, slight balance, rushing through a hs or two – FTDT, excellent foot position, good stick. 9.900

Jenkins – VT – UCLA – Y1.5, she’s the first one to get it, basically shows a stick, kind of rebounds in place, some knees at the end, solid. 9.900

Roberts – UB – Stanford – good hs – pak, lovely leg position – toe on to van leeuwen, minor leg separation – DLO, very good form, stuck. Nice. Crowd is big mad at 9.975, but there was a leg break in VL.

Sullivan – VT – UCLA – squinting at something in a very amusing way. Does she secretly need glasses? Y1.5, now she’s on the over-rotation train with a big lunge forward. 9.800

Barbosu – UB – Stanford – clear hip tkatchev piked to pak, well done – hits hs on low – van leeuwen, slight feet – solid hs on high – FTDT is the only issue, chest down, step to the side.

Chiles – VT – UCLA – Lopez is very strong, good distance and layout, little hop up, chest down on landing, some shoulder angle on block. 9.925

Judge conference on Barbosu. Must have just been just out of range because she has 900 tenths of bonus in that routine. 9.875

Soma – UB – Stanford – hits first hs – maloney to pak, nice – van leeuwen, legs together – hits hs on high – DLO, small leg sep, very small movement on landing. 9.925

Hoffman in exhibition on vault for UCLA sits a Y1.5.

After 2
UCLA 98.825
Stanford 98.625

Stanford brings it back with a big bars score of their own, also taking advantage of that sort of .05 forgiveness for Just Being Great we’ve seen on bars today. UCLA a stronger vault overall than Stanford’s because they were able to call on Chiles to be Chiles.
